Horses
The Full Story
Aubrey and I (Ann) have grown up with horses (ponies, Quarter horses, and Arabs). When he was a teen, Aubrey fell in love with driving when he worked for a farmer who still farmed with horses, and Aubrey also trained horses to ride during the summers. Early in our marriage, we had Percherons and Quarter horses, but working full time just didn't leave much time for farming with horses. We sold the Percherons and transitioned to mules since we could ride them and also use them for hunting. Fast forward 10+ years, and some of our kids were interested in driving, so we have added horses back into the herd. I still do love my mules though! We like the light drafts, specifically the Gypsy Vanners and the Friesians, because they are a nice dual purpose horse to ride and drive. They also have great dispositions, and are easy to train.
